What Is a Sumba Surf Charter Trip?
What is Sumba Surf Charter?
Open and private road trips across Sumba, run by IndonesiaJuara Trip. They visit traditional villages, beaches, a lagoon, waterfalls and savanna hills between Tambolaka and Waingapu.
What does a typical day look like?
Day two of the 4D3N trip: breakfast at 06.30, Weekuri Lagoon and Mandorak Beach, Prai Ijing Traditional Village, sunset at Warinding Hill, then dinner in Waingapu.
What's the difference between open and private trips?
The open trip is a shared 4D3N departure every Thursday, minimum 4 participants, with twin-share rooms. A private trip is for your own group from 2 participants, on your date, as 4D3N, 5D4N or 6D5N.
Can trips be customised?
Private groups choose the trip length and date. The day plans are set, and can change with conditions at the destination or force majeure.
Are there safety measures in place?
Safety comes first: bad weather changes the plan, participants follow the tour leader's direction, and anyone with a medical condition should consult a doctor and bring their medicines.
Is Sumba suitable for beginners?
The trips need good fitness rather than experience: the route includes steep, slippery trekking to waterfalls.

How to Book a Sumba Trip
How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp +62 811-994-1919 with the names and ages of all participants, a contact number, group size, and pick-up and drop-off locations.
How far in advance should I book?
Registration is open any time, subject to accommodation. Booking within 14 days of the trip means paying in full.
How do I pay?
A deposit of at least 50%, then the balance no later than 14 days before departure. Confirm by sending your transfer receipt on WhatsApp.
When is an open trip confirmed?
Once the minimum quota of 4 participants is reached.
Do I agree to be photographed?
Yes, participants agree to be documented for IndonesiaJuara Trip's social media. Tell the admin on WhatsApp if you don't want your photos posted.
Do I accept the terms by registering?
Yes. Participants are deemed to understand and agree to the terms and conditions after registering.
Prices
Prices & What's Included
How much does a trip cost in USD?
The 4D3N open trip is USD 459 per person. Private trips cost USD 390 to USD 1,020 per person, depending on trip length and group size.
What is included?
Entrance fees, drone and mirrorless documentation, the donation fee, mineral water, meals, a tour leader, twin-share hotels, pick-up on day one and drop-off at Waingapu Airport.
What is not included?
Flight tickets and personal expenses.
Can I have a private room on the open trip?
Yes, for USD 99 extra per room, subject to availability.
What do room upgrades cost?
Per night per room: villa + USD 35 or + USD 40, suite + USD 15 or VIP room + USD 45 at Sinar Tambolaka, deluxe room + USD 30 or junior suite + USD 55 at Padadita. For Lelewatu Sumba Resort, ask for price.

What are the best months to visit?
December to March is the green season, April and May turn the hills from green to yellow, and June to November is the yellow season.
Which airports do I use?
Arrive at Tambolaka Airport (TMC) before 12.00 WITA, or the day before. The trip ends at Waingapu Airport (WGP) at 11.00 WITA; flying home the next day is advised.
Are flights included?
No. Buy your own round-trip tickets; the itinerary can't be adjusted to flight schedules.
What should I bring?
Sunblock (SPF 30–50), sunglasses, a hat, swimsuit, spare clothes, trekking sandals or shoes, a drybag, snacks and supplements, a power bank, personal medicines, toiletries and wet tissue.
Why do I need a hard disk?
Your documentation files usually run over 32 GB and are copied on day three; a flash drive is far too slow.
Which mobile network works best?
Telkomsel has the best signal in Sumba.

What if I cancel?
The deposit is non-refundable and can't be moved to another trip or date, but you can pass your place to someone else.
What happens under force majeure?
Natural disasters, bad weather, riots, outbreaks or government rules can change or cancel a trip, with no refund for facilities not used.
What if I arrive late at the meeting point?
Arriving late and delaying the itinerary counts as withdrawing from the trip, with no refund.
Are you responsible for flight changes or lost baggage?
No. IndonesiaJuara Trip isn't liable for flight changes or cancellations, baggage damage, loss or delay by airlines, hotels or other transport, or for lost personal belongings.
What if trip equipment is damaged?
Participants pay for any loss or damage to trip facilities, charged at the item's price.
What is not allowed on the trip?
Illegal drugs, narcotics, firearms or anything that could harm others. Anyone with drugs or causing disturbance can be removed without refund, and littering or damaging nature is strictly forbidden.
