Reservation Process and What to Expect

Four steps from choosing a date to meeting your tour leader.

Step 1: Choose a date

Open trips depart every Thursday in 2026. Private trips run on the date you choose, subject to accommodation.

Step 2: Book on WhatsApp

Message us on WhatsApp +62 811-994-1919 with the names and ages of all participants, a contact number, group size, and pick-up and drop-off locations.

Step 3: Pay

Pay a deposit of at least 50%, then the balance no later than 14 days before departure, or in full if you book within 14 days. Send the transfer receipt on WhatsApp.

Step 4: Travel

Arrive at Tambolaka Airport before 12.00 WITA, or the day before, and meet your tour leader.

The deposit is non-refundable and can't be moved to another date, but you can pass your place to someone else. Booking terms & FAQ

Cancellation

Getting to Sumba & Transportation Options

Arrive
Tambolaka Airport (TMC), Southwest Sumba. Pick-up is 11.00–12.00 WITA at the airport or a hotel nearby, so arrive the day before or on a flight landing before noon.
Depart
Waingapu Airport (WGP), East Sumba. The trip ends at 11.00 WITA, and flying home the next day is advised.
On the road
The open trip travels by Innova. Private groups of 6–10 use 2 cars.
Flights
Not included. Buy your own round-trip tickets; the itinerary can't be adjusted to flight times.

Is there a booking deadline?
No. Registration is open any time, depending on accommodation availability.

What is the best time of year to go?
December to March is the green season, April and May turn the hills from green to yellow, and June to November is the yellow season.

Can I customise my itinerary?
Private groups choose the trip length and date. The day-by-day plan is set and can't be adjusted to flight times.

When is an open trip confirmed?
Once the minimum quota of 4 participants is reached.

Do I have to agree to be photographed?
Participants agree to be documented for social media. Tell the admin on WhatsApp if you don't want your photos posted.
